Claude Code highlights key details in long tasks: You should know displays notes above the input
Since Oct 1, the built-in You should know plugin has helped users catch important details in Claude Code responses.

We're adding a new plugin to Claude Code: You should Know. It reviews Claude's responses and finds important information you may have missed, keeping you up to date on what's happening. Enable it with this command: /plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin
· 22.3K views
In Claude Code, a separate agent reviews responses during long tasks. It highlights important details in a note above the input line.
You should know is built into the AI coding agent, so there is no separate service to install. The plugin was not available in Claude Code before version 2.1.287.
How to enable it. The plugin is disabled by default. The command `/plugin enable cc-plugin-you-should-know@builtin` enables it in Anthropic sessions with telemetry enabled.
If the plugin is available to your organization, you can find it under `/plugin` → Installed → Show disabled. It requires version 2.1.287 or later. Run `claude --version` to see your installed version.
How to update. The command depends on how you installed it:
- Native installation: `claude update`. - Homebrew: `brew upgrade claude-code`. - WinGet: `winget upgrade Anthropic.ClaudeCode`.
Anthropic included You should know in Claude Code 2.1.287, released on Oct 1, 2026.
