GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst: each edit redraws almost the whole frame, and shifts pile up over 30 steps
On Oct 9, Artificial Analysis ran 30 edits in a row on one photo: GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst redraws almost the whole frame at each step, leaving about a fifth of it unchanged. Ideogram 4.5 and FLUX 3 leave 95% or more of the frame untouched on small edits.

We gave four leading image-editing models the same photo and 30 edits in a row. Ideogram 4.5 keeps almost the whole room untouched, while the others drift, most noticeably GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst. We had seen interesting demos of consistency in multi-turn editing from the newest models, so we ran our own test: GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, first on our editing leaderboard, against Ideogram 4.5, FLUX 3 and Nano Banana 2.1. Our leaderboard scores single edits. This test checks what happens when 30 consecutive changes pile on top of each other. Each model edits its own previous result across a 30-step real estate photo prep scene. Light the fireplace, add a sofa, repaint the walls, change the day to dusk, and so on. Why are the end results so different? Ideogram 4.5 from @ideogram_ai and FLUX 3 from @bfl_ml edit locally. On small edits, like adding a vase with tulips, we measured that they leave 95% or more of the frame practically untouched. GPT Image 2.5 (Sunburst) redraws almost the whole frame on every edit, and only about a fifth survives. So small shifts in color and detail accumulate from turn to turn. Nano Banana 2.1 falls in between: its edits are local, but the rest of the picture shifts slightly and gradually darkens.

The leaderboard scores single edits, but here each model edited its own previous result. **Local edits.** Ideogram 4.5 and FLUX 3 on a small edit, such as a vase with tulips, left 95% or more of the frame untouched. **Redrawing.** GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst rewrites almost the whole frame at each step, and shifts in color and detail accumulate. Nano Banana 2.1 sits in between: its edits are local, but the rest of the picture gradually darkens.
So far this is a single run on one series of edits, with no repeats.
