- The consumer and work Copilot apps are merging into one: rollout began in August 2026 — first for Windows Insiders, then web and mobile in mid-August, followed by Windows and Mac apps in mid-September. The unified app allows sign-in with both a personal Microsoft account and a work or school Entra account, but account chats and data remain separate, and enterprise data boundaries do not change (support.microsoft.com, TechCrunch and GeekWire 13.08.2026).
- On 18.08.2026, group chats, AI podcasts, experimental Copilot Labs, and Deep Research were removed from consumer Copilot; files are moving to OneDrive. The merger lays the groundwork for the Copilot “super app” promised by the end of September 2026.
- A separate $20-per-month Copilot Pro subscription is no longer available to new customers: sales ended on 01.10.2025, features moved to Microsoft 365 Premium (about $19.99 per month with Office desktop apps and storage), and existing Copilot Pro subscriptions stop renewing after 01.08.2026.
