ChatGPT becomes an app storefront: one plugin is also visible in Codex
On Sep 29, OpenAI moved its former app directory to the Plugins Directory. A public plugin is published there once and becomes discoverable across supported ChatGPT and Codex interfaces.
Integrations previously lived in the app directory. Now ChatGPT and Codex share one directory, while existing integrations remain unchanged during migration.
A ready-made plugin is installed through Settings → Plugins → Install plugin, then connected to a service via Connect and authorization. Once installed, it can be invoked with @ or the + menu: the chat can read service data and perform supported actions.
Apps SDK remains in preview: OpenAI is building apps inside ChatGPT on MCP, with chat logic and an interface.
