AI agents for hardware development land funding: Flow valued at $750 million
On Sep 30, Flow Engineering raised $50 million for AI agents that track changes in engineering projects.
At Rivian, the number of Flow users grew from 40 to 1,500 in 7 months. The company shared these figures on Sep 30.
Flow Engineering connects hardware requirements with engineering documents and product development. Valor and Atreides led the Series B round. Sequoia invested again.
From requirements to agents. Over the past 12 months, Flow released v3 and deployed Systems Engineering agents in real hardware development programs. The agents monitor CAD, Git, simulation results and documents. They identify the impact of changes and requirements violations: for example, which related parts of a project a change will affect.
Flow connects this work with the team's familiar tools. In Slack, users message an agent by mentioning the Flow app, while the `/flow` command selects the project and branch. The Cursor integration lets users implement code changes requested in Flow and automatically open a pull request in GitHub.
Operating rules are defined through Skills in plain Markdown. An enabled Skill applies to all agents, automations and checks in the organization. By default, agents only read data; creating entities and tasks requires explicit permission from an administrator.
Start with a demo. Flow offers a free 14-day trial: sign up with a work email and password, then import requirements or open a ready-made demo project. As of Sep 30, plans charge per user seat with editing permissions.
| Plan | Monthly price per seat | Capacity and features | | --- | --- | --- | | Basic | $150 | 500 requirements, 1 project, all integrations and API | | Pro | $300 | 5,000 requirements, 5 projects, all features and priority support | | Enterprise | Custom | Terms by agreement |
The Rivian team evaluated 30 tools, Scott McKenzie said in Flow's Sep 30 press release. Changes proposed by Flow agents are merged after human approval.
