Choose it if you edit finished videos with words and have a foreign card. Do not choose it if you expect lots of video for $15: the entry plan gives 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 per month.
Runway - also written as "Ranway" in Russian - is a paid website and app where you make videos and images from descriptions, then edit a finished video with words like "cover the street in snow." The New York company makes its own models: Gen-4.5 creates video from scratch, Aleph remakes already-shot footage, and since 2026 third-party models from Kling to Seedance have been available alongside them. On top of the models are an agent you give tasks to in chat, a workflow builder, and an editing suite. You pay with credits, and a second of the flagship model costs 12 credits, so the entry plan runs out faster than it seems. This card explains what Runway can do, how much a second costs, how to pay from Russia, and how it differs from Kling.

1. Should you get it
There are two things to count: how many seconds of video you need each month and how you will pay.
Of six common requests from Runway users in Russia, only one is unmet: a Russian interface; the app, free trial, and Gen-4.5 are available.
What people want from Runway
Search volume — Wordstat, Russia region, 07.09.2026
Who it is for. For those who work with existing footage: Aleph takes a finished clip and changes its lighting, weather, or an object with one sentence, while the editing suite and ProRes export on the Max plan bring the result to broadcast quality. And for those who want to keep their Gen-4.5 and third-party Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.5 and Veo 3.1in one window without taking out four subscriptions.
Who else. For marketers who need a batch of campaign assets: the agent takes the task in chat, chooses the models itself, and delivers images and clips in the required aspect ratios. Teams of two or more have been offered a separate plan since 04.09.2026, with a shared credit pool and shot-level edits.
Who it is not for. For those with only a Russian card: checkout runs through Stripe, and Stripe neither serves users from Russia nor accepts “Mir.” And for those expecting volume from the entry-level plan: Standard's 625 credits run out at the 52nd second of Gen-4.5, while the vendor removed the old unlimited option from its listing in June 2026.
It's a fit: section 3 takes you from sign-in to your first video. If you are choosing between it and Kling, see the fork in section 7.
2. What Runway can do
Three levels: make video from scratch with its own or a third-party model, remake finished footage, and assemble a campaign from pieces with the agent, chain builder, and editing suite.
Proprietary models. Gen-4.5 launched in December 2025 and remains the vendor's latest foundation model; its update history contains no mention of “Gen-5” as of 07.09.2026. It makes 2- to 10-second 720p clips from text or an image, does not generate audio, and produces 4K by upscaling the finished file. Alongside it, Gen-4 Turbo is 2.4 times cheaper, Act-Two transfers an actor's facial, head, and hand movement to a character, and Ruby has rendered video in HDR since 20.08.2026.
Third-party models inside. Since 20.02.2026, the vendor has integrated Kuaishou's Kling 3.0 and OpenAI's Sora 2 Pro; over six months, a dozen third-party models joined them, including ByteDance's Seedance 2.5 with clips up to 30 seconds with audio. The full list with dates and owners is collected in the questions. Each has its own credit rate, and Runway's own video editor shows Google's Nano Banana Pro in its model selector. The service has thus become a storefront where its own model sits alongside competitors.
Finished video editing. Since 21.05.2026, Aleph 2.0 takes clips up to 30 seconds in 1080p: you edit one frame or write “add a giant hand that picks up a truck like a toy,” and the model applies the edit to the whole clip. It lives in Edit Studio with a source-frame timeline, costs 28 credits per second, and is 2.3 times more expensive than generating from scratch. This is the axis on which Runway differs from pure generators.
Agent and assembly. Since 13.05.2026, Runway Agent takes a task in chat: you upload a product photo and ask for four drink flavors, and it analyzes the image, generates variations, and explains what it did. Workflows connects nodes into a chain from image through video to an Aleph edit, Studio has cut, joined, and exported the final clip since 18.06.2026, and Gen-4.5 and Aleph have delivered ProRes 4444 and PNG sequences for editing since 10.08.2026.
External access. The same models are available to developers through Runway Dev: an API priced at one cent per credit, which added MCP on 02.09.2026; Pro and Max also include MCP in the subscription. Web and API wallets are separate: subscription credits are not visible in the API, and vice versa.
What the vendor itself shows. The header video and screenshots above come from official Runway Academy videos from May and July 2026; the credit numbers in their headers belong to the vendor's demo account and are not plans. We did not run Runway ourselves for this task: the figures come from the listing, documentation, API pricing, and vendor videos.
3. Where it works and how to start
You can start on the site or in the app without installing anything on a computer; both are accessible from Russia, but payment is where you will stumble.
Available from Russia. A test on 06.09.2026 from Moscow and St. Petersburg nodes returned code 200 for the homepage, workspace, and pricing page, while the Moscow node could not open LinkedIn at the same minute. The vendor's addresses are absent from the 1.6-million-line export of the registry of blocked sites, and the terms of use contain no mention of “Russia.” You do not need to change a Russian IP address to a foreign one.
Step 1. Open runway.com and sign in with Google, Apple, or an email and password; the old runwayml.com address has redirected here since summer 2026. A free account receives 125 credits once.
Step 2. In a new session, choose image, video, or Act-Two, describe the scene in English, and choose a model. The vendor accepts prompts in Russian but warns that models behave differently across languages, while the interface remains in English.
Step 3. For Gen-4.5, watermark-free video, and 1080p exports, you need the Standard plan or higher, and checkout accepts only foreign cards and wallets: from Russia international payment required or an intermediary that charges a commission.
Mobile. The “Runway: AI Image & Video” app is available in the App Store and Google Play, including Russian storefronts; the publisher in both is the vendor itself, version dated 08.30.2026. Inside are the same agent chat, images, and video, and a subscription can be purchased through the store: in the Russian App Store, Standard costs 1,290 ₽ per month. The game Schoolboy Runaway, listed higher in stores for the word “runway,” is unrelated to the neural network.
Language. There is no Russian interface: the vendor's help center says Runway is available only in US English, while the site's Japanese and Korean localizations are live. Voiceover is different: Russian is listed among 29 dubbing languages. Sites and bots promising “Runway in Russian and without foreign access” do not sell Runway, but their own wrapper around it at their own prices.

4. What the tests show
Runway took first place in the video-model ranking in December 2025, then fell to sixteenth by September 2026, so there will be no “best model” claim here.
Arena. When Gen-4.5 launched, the vendor claimed first place in the Artificial Analysis ranking with 1,247 Elo points, ahead of Veo 3, Kling 2.5, and Sora 2 Pro, and that snapshot from 11.30.2025 still appears on the announcement page. As of 09.07.2026, in the same ranking of models without sound, Gen-4.5 ranks sixteenth with 1,212 points in text generation and twenty-fourth with 1,257 in image generation, while Wan 3.0, Gemini Omni Flash, and MiniMax H3 lead the table. The vendor integrated Wan 3.0, the model that surpassed Gen-4.5 in the arena, on 08.24.2026. The arena measures base models, not the editor and agent built around them.
Scale. The vendor's only audience figure is “over 60 million creators” on its homepage and pricing page, with no period or counting method. Verifiable figures nearby: app-store ratings, seven offices according to the vendor's site, and a $5.3 billion valuation from the February 2026 round according to Crunchbase and TechCrunch; the company does not disclose headcount.
What is known about the scale
Demand. The bare word “runway” in Wordstat is shared by a song, fuel additive, treadmill, and the game Schoolboy Runaway, spelled “ranvey,” so demand for the neural network is counted using tails with clarification: “runway neyroset” 3.5K, “runway gen” 6.5K with Gen-2, Gen-3, and Gen-4 tails, “runway ml” 2K (Wordstat, 09.07.2026). Its place among video tools is shown below the card title; the full tool ranking is on the general page.
5. How much it costs
Entry costs $15 per month for 625 credits, and the core math is simple: one second of Gen-4.5 uses 12 credits, so Standard gives 52 seconds of video per month.
Credits. A credit costs one cent under the API pricing, and each model has its own rate: Gen-4.5 uses 12 credits per second, Gen-4 Turbo and Act-Two use 5 each, Aleph 2.0 uses 28, Veo 3.1 uses 40, Seedance 2.0 in 1080p uses 40, and a Gen-4 image in 1080p uses 8 credits. On Standard and Pro, unused credits expire on the billing date; on Max, they roll over for one month. Top-ups start at 1,000 credits for $10; Free cannot purchase top-ups.
Plans. According to the storefront on 09.07.2026: Standard is $15 for 625 credits, Pro $35 for 2,250, Max $95 for 9,500, and Team $69 per seat with a shared wallet. The storefront opens to annual billing by default and lists $12, $28, and $76 per month, which means one-time payments of $144, $336, and $912. The dollar prices themselves have not changed since December 2024; what they include has changed.
Where unlimited went. The $95 Unlimited plan with credit-free generations had existed since 2024 and disappeared from the storefront between May 7 and June 7, 2026, replaced by Max with 9,500 credits at the same price. The vendor's surfaces conflict over the credit-free mode: help dated 08.25.2026 promises Unlimited Mode on Pro and Max for its own models in a slow queue, while storefront data on 09.07.2026 shows the mode disabled on every plan and leaves only video upscaling to 4K unlimited. Third-party models inside always use credits, while legacy Unlimited subscribers retain access through 11.30.2026.
Free. 125 credits once at signup, enough for two 5-second Gen-4.5 videos, with no later top-up. Every free video has a watermark, exports are only in standard resolution, and the queue has no priority.
Paying from Russia. Checkout runs through Stripe; the vendor lists cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Alipay, while Stripe officially does not serve users in Russia and does not support Mir. A second route is the app: the Russian App Store sells Standard for 1,290 ₽ and Pro for 2,990 ₽ per month at the Central Bank exchange rate, but payment there also requires a foreign method. Intermediaries charge an extra 350 to 1,050 ₽ or 5-20% and ask for access to your account, while wrappers sell a second of Gen-4.5 for 26 ₽ versus 12 cents from the vendor.
Refund. Under the vendor's agreement, all payments are non-refundable; refunds may be issued upon request at its discretion. Canceling a subscription stops the next payment, while credits remain available until the end of the paid period.

6. Can Runway be trusted
Three questions: who owns the videos, what the vendor trained its models on, and why it is being sued.
Whose videos. Yours: the vendor's agreement does not claim rights to your materials or outputs and does not restrict their commercial use on any plan, from monetized YouTube to advertising, and you do not have to credit Runway. There is one catch on the free plan, a watermark on every video. The other side of the same agreement clause: Runway may use your uploads and outputs to train its models under a perpetual, irrevocable license; the documents have no opt-out button, and the vendor sells its promise not to train on customer data only to Enterprise companies, together with protection against third-party claims.
Who owns what at each tier
What it was trained on. On 25.07.2024, 404 Media published a leaked internal training-data spreadsheet for the Gen-3 model containing thousands of YouTube videos and pirated films. CTO Anastasis Germanidis replied that an in-house research team handles training using curated internal datasets. This story led to two lawsuits against Runway in New York in 2026, both over YouTube videos: the consolidated Ace Cam and Businessing case, which the court classified as personal-injury claims, and the Gardner case, moved from California to New York in May 2026.
Court cases. Runway has been a defendant since 13.01.2023 in artists' case against Stability AI and Midjourney over training on their works; the case is in fact discovery, and sources give different trial dates. As of 07.09.2026, none of the three disputes has a ruling. The vendor agreement is governed by New York law, disputes are heard by New York courts, the service is available from age 13, and under 18 with parental permission.
Data. The company is based in the United States and, under its policy, transfers your data there and to other countries; the policy has no separate section for Russia. The word “Russia” is also absent from the user agreement, but it appears in the vendor's contest rules: residents of Russia cannot receive prizes in Gen:48 and the 2026 summer ad contest. The vendor does not prohibit use of the service itself.
Who is nearby. Lionsgate has been a Runway partner since 18.09.2024 and acquired a stake on 17.06.2026 with no cash changing hands, in exchange for the partnership; the vendor itself names AMC Networks and Stephen Colbert's show as customers, while Bloomberg reports that Netflix used Runway for visual effects in the series “El Eternauta”. General Atlantic, NVIDIA, Adobe, and AMD provide funding; TechCrunch estimates the company has raised 860 million $ since 2018.

7. Or Kling
The fork is not which model generates better, but what you do with the video after generation: Kling delivers a finished video, while Runway sells the desk where you rework it.
Kling. A Chinese video model with its own site: the entry plan is $10 per month for 660 credits, with free daily credits and sound directly in the video, which Gen-4.5 lacks. Choose Kling if you need one strong model for less with speech; choose Runway if you edit finished video, build a campaign with an agent, or want to switch between its Gen-4.5 and third-party models. Kling 3.0 itself has been inside Runway since 20.02.2026, and according to the Kling listing, both sites are accessible from Russia, but payment requires an intermediary.
Higgsfield. A neighbor in the same area that went further down the same path: it has no base video model of its own, but bundles a dozen third-party models under subscriptions from $19. The axis between them is this: Runway's third-party-model storefront grew alongside its Gen-4.5 and Aleph editor, while for Higgsfield the storefront is the product.
Sora. Listed in our catalog as a discontinued product, while the Sora 2 Pro model has been inside Runway since 20.02.2026. Google sells Veo 3.1 through a Gemini subscription, and the same model is available in Runway for 40 credits per second with sound. There is one Russian video neighbor, Sber's Kandinsky: it works from Russia without foreign access, but does not yet have its own catalog page.

9. Frequently asked questions
What is Runway in simple terms?+
A paid website and app for video and images from a New York company. Its own models: Gen-4.5 makes video from a description or image, Aleph edits finished video with words, and Act-Two transfers an actor's movement to a character. Since 2026, it has also included third-party models such as Seedance, Kling, and Veo, with an agent on top that you give tasks to in chat. The company was founded in 2018 and helped release Stable Diffusion.
Is Runway free?+
Almost not. A free account gets 125 credits once and for all, enough for two 5-second Gen-4.5 videos, with no way to top up afterward. Videos on the free plan have a watermark, and exports are only available in standard resolution. The practical entry point is the Standard plan at $15 per month (pricing page 07.09.2026).
How much does a Runway subscription cost?+
According to the pricing page on 07.09.2026: Standard is $15 per month for 625 credits, Pro is $35 for 2 250, Max is $95 for 9 500, and the Team plan is $69 per seat. The pricing page opens to annual billing by default and shows $12, $28, and $76, which is the monthly price when paid yearly in advance. A credit costs one cent, and a second of Gen-4.5 uses 12 credits.
How much video can you make with a subscription?+
Not much. Standard at $15 gives 52 seconds of Gen-4.5 per month, Pro at $35 gives a little over three minutes, and Max at $95 gives thirteen minutes. That is how the vendor itself calculates it on its pricing page: 625 credits equal 52 seconds. Third-party models inside have their own rates: Seedance 2.0 in 1080p costs more than three times as much as Gen-4.5, while Gen-4 Turbo is 2.4 times cheaper.
How do you pay for Runway from Russia?+
You cannot pay directly with a Russian card: the vendor's checkout runs through Stripe, and Stripe officially does not serve users from Russia or accept Mir cards. There are two paths: a foreign card, including by topping up Apple ID to buy in the app, where Standard costs 1 290 ₽ per month, or an intermediary that pays for you and charges an extra 350 to 1 050 ₽ or 5-20%. The general options are collected on the "How to pay for AI from Russia" page.
Does Runway work from Russia?+
Yes. A test on 06.09.2026 from a Moscow node returned code 200 on the site, in the dashboard, and on the pricing page, while the same node could not open LinkedIn that same minute. The vendor's addresses are not in the registry of banned domains, and the user agreement does not contain the word "Russia." The only place where the vendor names Russia is in its contest rules: prizes are not issued to Russians.
Is there a Runway phone app?+
Yes, including in Russian stores. The Russian App Store has the vendor's own "Runway: AI Image & Video" app, with a version dated 30.08.2026 and 930 ratings averaging 4.38, while Google Play has package com.runwayml.prod from publisher Runway AI. There is no desktop app; on a computer, you work in a browser. The Schoolboy Runaway game, which appears higher for the "runway" query, is unrelated to the AI.
Is Runway available in Russian?+
There is no Russian interface: the vendor's help center says the service is available only in American English, the website has two localizations, Japanese and Korean, and the app has one, English. The vendor accepts prompts in any language but warns they work differently, while you can voice and dub video in Russian: Russian is on the list of 29 dubbing languages. Sites promising "Runway in Russian" do not sell Runway, but their own wrapper around it.
What is Gen-4.5, and is there a Gen-5?+
Gen-4.5 is Runway's flagship video model: announced 01.12.2025, available on paid plans from 11.12.2025, and as of 07.09.2026 it remains its latest base model, with no mention of "Gen-5" in either the vendor's blog or update history. It makes 2 to 10-second 720p videos from text or images, does not create sound, and 4K is only available by upscaling finished video. At launch, it was first in the Artificial Analysis ranking with 1 247 points; as of 07.09.2026, it ranks sixteenth there.
What is Aleph in Runway?+
A model for editing finished video: you show it one frame and say what to change, and Aleph applies the edit to the whole video. Version 2.0 launched 21.05.2026 and accepts clips up to 30 seconds in 1080p, running in Edit Studio. It costs 28 credits per second, 2.3 times more than Gen-4.5.
What was the unlimited plan in Runway, and where did it go?+
A separate Unlimited plan for $95 existed from 2024 and disappeared from the pricing page between May 7 and June 7, 2026, replaced by Max with 9 500 credits. The vendor's materials conflict about the no-credit mode: help dated 25.08.2026 says Unlimited Mode is available on Pro and Max for Runway's own models, while pricing data from 07.09.2026 shows the mode disabled on every plan, with only 4K video upscaling remaining unlimited. It cannot be checked without a subscription, third-party models inside always cost credits, and access for existing Unlimited subscribers was extended until 30.11.2026.
Which third-party models are available inside Runway?+
According to the vendor's update history as of 07.09.2026: since 20.02.2026 Kling 3.0, Kling 2.6 Pro, and Kling 2.5 Turbo Pro from Kuaishou, Sora 2 Pro from OpenAI, GPT Image 1.5 from OpenAI, and Wan 2.2 Animate from Alibaba; 27.02.2026 Nano Banana 2 from Google; 07.04.2026 Seedance 2.0 from ByteDance; 30.06.2026 Gemini Omni Flash from Google; 15.07.2026 Seedream 5.0 from ByteDance; 20.07.2026 Nano Banana 2 in 4K; 05.08.2026 Hailuo 3.0 from MiniMax in the API; 11.08.2026 Seedance 2.5 with videos up to 30 seconds with sound; 13.08.2026 Grok Imagine 1.5 from xAI; 24.08.2026 Wan 3.0 from Alibaba. Veo 3.1 from Google is listed in the API pricing at 40 credits per second. Every third-party model is charged in credits at its own rate.
Whose company is Runway?+
An American company from New York, founded in 2018 by Chileans Cristobal Valenzuela and Alejandro Matamala and Greek founder Anastasis Germanidis, who met at New York University. Since 26.02.2026, the company has had two co-CEOs, seven offices from New York to Tokyo, and the vendor does not publish its headcount. In February 2026, it raised 315 million $, with Crunchbase and TechCrunch citing a 5.3 billion $ valuation; among its nine investors are NVIDIA and Adobe, and in June 2026 the Lionsgate film studio received a stake in the company.
Who owns videos made in Runway?+
You do, and you can sell what you make on any plan: the vendor's agreement does not claim rights to your materials or results and does not restrict their commercial use, while a link to Runway is not required. Two caveats: every video on the free plan has a watermark, and under the same agreement Runway may use your uploads and results to train its models, with a perpetual and irrevocable license and no opt-out button in the documents.
Runway or Kling?+
Kling, if you need one strong model with sound for $10 per month for 660 credits and free daily credits. Runway, if you edit finished video, build a campaign with an agent, or want to switch between its own Gen-4.5 and third-party models, including the same Kling 3.0, which has been available inside Runway since 20.02.2026. The choice is covered in section 7.
